Creating Pages
To create a page, simply select Edit->New->Page from the upper right corner. This will create a child page of whatever page you are currently viewing in whatever space you are currently in. The page editor will then appear.
The text "New Page" will appear in the small text box near the top of the edit page. Here you can name the page. The large text box below it is used to add content and text to appear on the page. Notice that there are three tabs in the upper left of the large text box: "Rich Text", "Wiki Markup", and "Preview". These tabs will change the large text box between page editing formats and a preview of the page with the current content.
"Rich Text" changes the edit box to allow you to use simple button options with editing methods similar to those found in a word processor. This includes bullets or numbering with indenting, text formating (bold, italic, color), and inserting images, tables, and links among other options.
The "Wiki Markup" tab changes the edit box to use Confluence standards for Wiki markup. Confluence has its own standards and macros to change how content appears on a page. See Using Wiki Markup and Notation Standards for more information on formatting and notation standards.
Location and Restrictions
Below the page editor there are some options that can be set or edited if desired: Location, Restrictions, and Labels.
Location shows where the page is currently located - what space it is in and what page is its parent page (or which page it is a child of). To change the location of the page, select Edit and click and drag the page to the desired location in the hierarchy for the space. It is also possible to move the page to a different space by selecting the space from the drop down menu. The page will be moved once you select Save for the page editor.
Restrictions allow for viewing and editing privileges to be set. By selecting Edit, you can choose to restrict the viewing or editing of the page to yourself, selected users, or both. Select the radio button to restrict viewing or editing. Clicking "Choose me" will add your username to the list of users that are allowed to view or edit the page. Clicking "Choose users" will open a pop up menu for you to search for registered users on the site. Once you have found the users you want to add, check the bot by their user name and click "Select User(s)". Once you click Save for the page editor, the added users will be the only users allowed to view or edit the page. You can remove these restrictions by clicking Edit for Restrictions again and then clicking Remove for the user name in the viewing or editing restrictions. This is particularly valuable when you are creating a new page or working on a major edit for a page. Restrict viewing only to yourself and once you have completed the page and made an necessary changes, you can remove the viewing restrictions for other users to see your page.
Labels are largely not being used by cagrid.org at this time. However, future site changes may implement the label feature.
