caGrid 1.4 Software
caGrid 1.4 Installation Quick Start
To quickly get caGrid installed on your host we recommend using the caGrid 1.4 Installer. The installer is designed to install and configure nearly all of the software that you need.
If you would rather not use the Installer you can install caGrid manually.
| Reinstallation Note: During installation the caGrid installer creates a directory which contains information specific to the choices you make using the installer. Directory location: The installer also reminds you to create environment variables for Ant, Tomcat and JBoss. If you intend to install a clean caGrid to your system, please cleanup your previous install as follows:
|
Step 1. Install the Prerequisites
caGrid depends upon a number of libraries and software components. Make sure you download the software prerequisites and configure your environment properly to use caGrid.
Step 2. Obtain a Software Release
If you are having trouble installing caGrid due to firewall configuration or because you need to use a proxy, you can create your own caGrid installer that will retrieve files from the local filesystem.
Download and extract the caGrid 1.4 Installer. This installer includes the 1.4 release of caGrid.
Step 3. Install caGrid
Use the installer to install caGrid 1.4. The Installer can also install and configure Globus WS Core 4.0.3, Ant 1.7.0, Tomcat 5.5.27 and JBoss 4.0.5GA.
Step 4. Create a Tomcat Container
In order to deploy caGrid services you will need a to install and configure a web container. Use the caGrid Installer can install and configure Tomcat 5.5.27 or JBoss 4.0.5GA.
Step 5. Inspect the caGrid Directory Structure
The caGrid release is oriented around a number of individual projects and the build process manages inter-project dependencies. After caGrid is built, each of the projects can be used independently. For example, if you are only interested in Introduce, you can safely copy around caGrid/projects/introduce as a standalone copy of Introduce. The same is true for core services; once caGrid is built, all dependencies for each service are copied into the ext directories of the service. Read descriptions of each project.
Step 6. Review Additional caGrid 1.4 Documentation
Read the caGrid 1.4 documentation.
