caGrid 1.2 Software
Prerequisites
caGrid 1.2 requires the following software:
- Java 1.5.0.22 JDK

- Ant 1.6.5

- (Optional) If you want to deploy services to tomcat, you will need Tomcat 5.0.28
- Other versions of tomcat will work, but they aren't officially supported (read:tested) by caGrid.
- (Optional) If you are deploying caGrid core services locally, you may also need a MySQL database
. *NOTE:*MySQL is only required for the security services and GME. You can use 4.x (with transaction enabled; i.e. use InnoDB engine) or 5.x (except with GME).
The caGrid Installer will install all of these prerequisites except for Java and MySQL.

Software
You can obtain the caGrid 1.2 release in a number of ways. First, you can use the graphical installer. This is the easiest way to install caGrid, setup containers, and more.
Second, you can obtain the source release and build caGrid yourself. This is much easier than it sounds.
Finally, you can checkout the source code.
| Checking out the code is similar to downloading the source release (zip), but has the benefit of getting you all the latest updates to the code since it was released. That is, the source code checkout always has the latest patches applied to fix bugs found since the caGrid release. |
