Logging onto the Grid

The GAARDS UI provides a mechanism of "Logging onto the Grid" using a Dorian credential provider.  Logging onto the Grid is the process of requesting a short term PKI credential that is used to authenticate with Web/Grid services. To login to the Grid using the GAARDS UI please complete the following steps:

1. Launch the GAARDS UI.
2. Click the Login button on the toolbar in the GAARDS UI, this will open the Login window.
3. From the Credential Provider drop down select the credential provider (Dorian) you wish to obtain a credential from.
4. From the Organization drop down select the organization in which you below to.  At this point in time you will be prompted for the Login information your organization requires.  For this guide we will illustrate authenticating with a username and password, other credential types can be provided in a similar manner.
5. Enter your User Id in the User Id text box.
6. Enter your password in the Password text box.
7. Click  the Login button.

At this point the GAARDS UI present the authentication information you provided to your organization.  If your organization accepts your information, it will issue a signed assertion, which will be given to the credential provider (Dorian).  If the credential provider accepts you assertion it will issue you a short term PKI credential which you can use to authenticate with web/grid services.  In either case the GAARDS UI will present a dialog informing you whether or not you successfully logged onto the Grid.
